EDUCATION OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

VISION - Our students will be confident, connected, actively involved lifelong learners.

St Joseph’s students have a variety of experiences where they learn outside the classroom.

These may include:

  • Cooking in the “Mustard Seed” our specially designed cooking room.
  • Working with the “Plant to Plate” group that visit each year to create meals with the students using the raw ingredients and educating the students about the plants origins.
  • Caring for our class plot in the ‘edible’ garden
  • Visiting New World with a budget to buy ‘healthy food’ to create a meal for the class or group.
  • Collecting rubbish in the community to follow up with a discussion and learning about the concept of ‘zero waste’.
  • Day /overnight trips to places such as Te Papa or with the Seniors and annual camp.
  • Visiting Coombrae Rest Home to share our learning and singing with the residents.

MISSION STATEMENT : St. Joseph’s School provides a Catholic environment where students receive an education that reflects their dignity and individuality and encourages them to reach their full potential spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically within the School Community.
